5 Can’t Miss Games Week 5

Mt. Pleasant Tigers at Cornersville Bulldogs – Both teams come into this regional matchup at 3-1 each hoping for a Moore County victory over the Fayetteville Tigers to knot up the regional title race in a 3 way tie. Fayetteville still would hold the tie break over Mt. Pleasant’s head but Cornersville still has control of its own destiny with a week 7 matchup with the Fayetteville Tigers.

Ravenwood Raptors at Brentwood Bruins – The week 1 loss to Centennial didn’t help the Raptors regional title hopes especially with the Bruins having the stellar un-defeated season that they are…for now! Ravenwood holds the key in their hands tonight as they square off with the Bruins in “The Battle of the Woods” at Brentwood High School. With Independence, Franklin and Centennial having the down seasons that they are, we believe that the regional title comes down to tonights game.

Columbia Central at Summit – The first BIG matchup of 5A Region 5 comes tonight between two teams that have recently found their groove. Summit suffered from the new school blues for their first five years in existence before breaking into the play-offs last year. They continued that momentum from last season with a huge win over cross town rival Independence earlier this year and have not looked back since. Columbia comes in riding the wave of an undefeated record at 4-0. This region will come down to a three team playoff between the Page Patriots, Summit Spartans and Columbia Lions in which depending on tonights outcome may come down to an Oct. 27th showdown between the Lions and Patriots.

BGA Wildcats at CPA Lions – Tonight we find out exactly how tough this undefeated Wildcats team is. Coach Roc Batten has done a wonderfully consistent job with the wildcats over the past few years, three district titles in four years is phenomenal, but tonight is the litmus test that can take BGA from consistent…to great! CPA touts a high power run game that to say the least is very hard to stop, though we wonder how the Lions will bounce back from an overtime loss to the Pearl Cohn Firebirds last week.

Riverdale at Oakland – Oakland officially starts defending their title tonight with regional play starting against the red hot Riverdale Warriors. This region has several different scenarios that will play themselves out over that last half of the season with undefeated Cookeville in the mix as well who faces their first big test of the season tonight against Pearl Cohn. After tonight Riverdale or Oakland will no longer have a perfect record, we are guessing that Pearl will knock off Cookeville and Blackman will beat Siegel leaving Blackman and the winner of Oakland v. Riverdale in a first place tie for now.
