MBA Football 2017Montgomery Bell Academy juniors Jackson Hannah and Jackson Lampley share a lot in common. They both are four star recruits according to 247Sports, former players of the Brentwood Blaze organization, and close friends.

According to the two players, playing for the Blaze was their earliest football experience, and it helped lay the foundation for their football careers that followed.

“Blaze was one of the best things I did as a player,” Hannah said. “It taught me most importantly the game of football, but also playing the best game with your best friends. I learned how to be tough and play through adversity.”

As two of the bigger kids on the team, both Jacksons played on the offensive line growing up.

Lampley said, “One of the memories that truly stands out to me about our time with the Blaze was playing right next to each other. I played right tackle and Hannah played right guard for most of my Blaze career.”

Another memory that stood out to Lampley was winning a state championship alongside Hannah in sixth grade. They will try to do the same with this year’s MBA Big Red.

Hannah spoke about this year’s team saying, “What excites me most about this season is the team’s chemistry. I’ve been a part of three varsity teams at MBA, and this is the tightest one I’ve had.”

Both Jacksons are deep into the recruiting process and look to make decisions before their senior year.

“Right now, I’m trying to narrow down my top six schools. Hopefully towards the end of the season, I’ll be able to announce my top six,” Hannah said. Meanwhile Lampley’s timetable is a little bit more extended. He said, “I have really enjoyed the recruiting process thus far, and I plan on making my decision early next summer.”

Hannah and Lampley, teammates on the field and friends off of it, share a lot of the same experiences and in order for MBA to have a successful season this year, the Big Red will need both stars to shine in 2017.

“Jackson’s not a teammate, he’s a brother. We were best friends back then and still are now,” Hannah said.

Lampley echoed Hannah’s comments by saying, “I really like having a teammate that I grew up with on my team now because of the bond that we have. Jackson and I have played together since the fourth grade, and we’ve always been really good friends since then.”

Both players opened their season Friday night with a dominating 44-0 win over Memphis’ Wooddale High School. Hannah had one tackle and a fumble recovery, while Lampley and the offensive line paved the way for the team’s 174 rushing yards. The Big Red will look to continue their success this Friday night against the Pearl Cohn Firebirds in a battle between two of Nashville’s top teams.
