Bright Future for Antwuan Branch

by. Preston Bostain / D1 Highlights Intern

In what was a chilly night for Creek Wood fans, only got even chillier as the Knights and Antwuan Branch kept the heat to themselves. This is the second consecutive year that the two teams have met and Branch has run all over the Red Hawks defense both years.

In 2015, Branch had 397 total purpose yards, 33 carries for 384 yards on the ground and 1 catch for 13 yards and 6 TD’s. This year was no different against the Red Hawks as Branch had 25 carries for a total of 335 yards and 6 TD’s.

The future Boilermaker has had a high school career that every kid wishes for. Branch has no one to thank but his family, coaches and most importantly his saving grace. Branch prays before every game, not to just have a good game for himself, but to make sure the good lord is with everyone on the field.

That in itself needs no introduction why this student athlete is so naturally loved by his family, friends and teammates. Branch credits his offensive line for helping him receive all the yards he has. He also credits a lot of his coaches that have helped lead him to where he is now.

According to MaxPreps, Mr. Branch has only played 3 years of high school football with the Kenwood Knights. There are no stats involving his sophomore year of high school.

In Branch’s freshman year he played in 2 games as running back for varsity with 14 carries for 87 yards and a touchdown.

Branch’s junior year was the breakout year he was looking for. Antwuan played in all 12 games last year having 313 carries for 2,595 yards with 27 TD’s. His average rushing yards per game was 216.3. Now that’s pretty impressive for a junior running back.

In his final year with the Kenwood Knights Branch is having another phenomenal year. One final game left on the season and Branch thus far has 179 carries for 1,624 yards and 22 TD’s.

*Note: All the stats just mentioned are just from his rushing statistics.

In his Kenwood career, Branch just has 4 catches for 97 yards total and 3 TD’s.

In all three years of Branch’s career, he has 4,308 total rushing yards, 97 receiving yards for a total purpose yardage of 4,405. Quite impressive, huh?

Oh yes, I have a stat more impressive than that. Branch has put up 306 points on the scoreboard by himself in 3 years with 52 TD’s. Yes, 3 years. The Crazy thing is that he still has one final game to play.

Branch will end his high school career in the black and gold at home against Lipscomb Academy on senior night.

If you happen to be free this Friday night, make it a part of your schedule to come and watch because you may never see another talent like Antuwan Branch for a long time.
