Most athletes dream of the day they sign to play collegiate athletics. Dontae Smith, Spring Hill running back, signed to play college football at Georgia Tech December 20th, the first day of the “new” aka early signing period.  Dontae tells us that he has been practicing his signature for years in anticipation of this day. Smith is heading to the alma mater of his cousin Shaq Mason current Offensive Guard for the New England Patriots. Dontae is one of the most powerful running backs in the state of Tennessee and has had two seasons where he rushed for over 2,000 yards. Those two seasons led to him acquiring the nickname “2ktae”. It seems as though Dontae couldn’t have found a better fit for himself and his family, his ties to Atlanta are almost endless.

Smith will be coached by Paul Johnson and should be a perfect fit for the offensive style of this team. As a team who is a run team, Smith has tons of opportunities to get playing time, but not without competition. Smith has never had to battle for much playing time at Spring Hill, but now

he will have to showcase what differentiates him from the rest of the “A” backs at Georgia Tech. If you ask him if he likes the offense at tech he will tell you he loves it and the opportunity for competition, without a doubt! Dontae committed to this Georgia tech program back in June, and has not wavered since. Now after signing his NLI he will be on campus next fall. We wish you the best in all you do “2ktae”.
