Forced turnovers and great defense from Centennial help the Cougars to a 41-7 win.

We had a showing of great defense by the Centennial Cougars in Week 0, forcing the Eagles of Clarksville Northeast to turnover the ball several times throughout the game. Senior running back Deon Sanders for the Cougars scored twice in the game, after a 1600+ rushing and 10+ touchdowns season a year ago, Sanders showed up in mid-season form. Sander’s speed, power, and agility were on display in Franklin last night. Wide receiver and Missouri commit Emanuel Hall got in on the action as well with a 46 yard reception that he took to the house for a touchdown. Northeast could never get the ball rolling in the game with several forced fumbles from the Cougars and miscues in the running game. If the Eagles weren’t turning the ball over then quarterback Benji Burchwell was running for his life with fierce quarterback pressure all night long from Centennial defensive line. Sophomore defensive end Nicholas Bell led the stingy defens by not allowing the Eagles to get any kind of rhythm started on offense. The Cougars defense and special teams play of senior kicker Nick Madonia help establish a lead throughout the game. Madonia was good on several FG tries, booting a 50yd FG at one point in the game to extend the lead. When the clock hit zero the Cougars had put up 41 points to Northeast 7. Next week Clarksville NE travels to Franklin again to play Franklin High, while the Cougars travel to Overton to face the 1-0 Bobcats.
