High Point and Low Points, Cane Ridge at Mt. Juliet

Thunder vs. Lightning, speed versus strength, whatever you want to call it, that was the theme going into tonights game featuring the Cane Ridge Ravens at the Mt. Juliet Bears. Both of these teams are on the upswing and we expect to see big things out of them both in the near future. Mt. Juliet is looking to ride their run game behind their massive offensive line into the 6A playoffs. As for Cane Ridge, they  have speed at every position that you can think of from DJ Thorpe at quarterback to Noah Bayless at linebacker! This game came down to a potential fourth quarter come back by the Bears that was negated by an interception with less than a minute to go in the game by the Ravens. Final score Cane Ridge 27 Mt. Juliet 19

Cane Ridge High Points

  • Head Coach Eddie Woods has these guys ready to play under all circumstances
  • We knew DJ Thorpe was good but he performed way better than we ever expected against a good Bears team. Thorpe has the arm and legs to play at the next level. The run/throw option is perfect for DJ.
  • Running back Emari Barton is the perfect pass catching weapon coming out of the back field. As Cane Ridge had trouble catching the deep ball early in the game, Emari stepped up to show off his ability to catch the ball.
  • The Cane Ridge line and linebackers may be under-sized but they play like they are 7 ft. tall. Mt. Juliet’s o-line had trouble containing the speed of Cane Ridge’s linebacking core which made it very hard for the Bears run game.

Mt. Juliet High Points

  • You can kick them but you can’t keep them down. At half they we’re down by two scores, the fight that this team put together to have a chance to tie the game on their final drive was impressive.
  • James Wilhoit has multiple all-star kickers that he has groomed on this Mt. Juliet Bears team. Starting place kicker Jacob Bailey kept the Bears in the game with two long filed goals in the first half.
  • There is no quit in Head Coach Trey Perry. The Cane Ridge defense stopped his team’s run game in the first half but the legs of quarterback Mason Earls and determination of the Bears coaching staff  helped to get the Bears run game moving in the second half. Earls had two rushing td’s on the night.
