National Playmakers Academy Winter Workouts

Jarious Johnson – Franklin Co.

This offseason players have come from all across Middle Tennessee  to the indoor practice facility at Tennessee State University for National Playmakers Academy open house workout. Buck Fitzgerald and his staff put together yet again another great workout for underclassmen trying to gain exposure and just get better this offseason. On a cold Sunday afternoon Playmakers Academy had about 100 to 150 athletes competing against each other. The offensive lineman and defensive lineman we’re up first and got in several good hours of training and exercises, big names where in attendance like Max Wray who has committed to University of Georgia and Obinna Eze who will be taking his talents to University of Memphis this fall.

Skill players closed out the practice that included running backs, quarterbacks, receivers and linebackers. While there were several talented young men that worked out we thought that one stood out to us who might be flying under the radar. Jarious Johnson who is a 2018 running back from Franklin County, Tennessee. Coming off a disappointing season for the Rebels of Franklin County, this big back stands north of 6 foot tall and 205 pounds. Johnson’s junior campaign had him a little under 1,000 yards rushing and also winning Region 5-5A first-team honors against strong competitors like players from Independence, Summit, Stewarts Creek and Laverne just to name a few. Johnson is a big body and a name to be on the lookout for throughout this offseason going into summer and fall practices. He is the perfect size for a running back at the next level in college. He reminds us of a high school version of Eddie George  in his younger years. Take a look at Johnson’s Hudl film below and be on the lookout for this stud running back flying under our radar.
