Perfectly Golden Bears. The Mount Juliet Golden Bears are officially 10-0, after knocking off the now 6-4 Hendersonville Commandos, to win 27-7.  The Bears somehow found a way to tune out the downpour and just play football.  Many times throughout the game things seemed to not go in Mount Juliet’s favor. Penalties slowed the Bears normally hi-powered offense which is used to putting up 35 points plus.

Offensively, the Bears still managed to capitalize on the defenses stellar performance. If the other team can’t score then they can’t win…even if as a team the Bears put up a season low 27 points. Between Raines, Walton at tailback, and Glass at quarterback this team has been able to run the ball up and down the field all over their opponents.  Running the ball seems to be the key for this team this year especially last night when conditions weren’t exactly optimal for passing. Defensively the Bears seem to be unbeatable, they have only been scored on three times all season. Jesyah White(35-SR) played a game all of his own, racking up stop after stop at critical times.

Finishing in 1st place in Region 4-6A  the Bears will have to face the cross Region 3-6A 4th place team The Riverdale Warriors. This game will be in Mount Juliet’s favor having home field advantage and a record that speaks for itself.  Riverdale seems to have their work cut out for them with multiple players injured including Christian Souffrant, and 4 star lineman and University of Tennessee commit D’Andre Litaker. Riverdale will look to running back Savion Davis for answers.  The game will be played at the “Bear Den” on November 3 at 7pm.  A loss on either side leads to elimination.  Welcome to the road to the Blue Cross Bowl.
