Ravenwood tops cross town rival Centennial 24-0

by. Evan A. Butler/D1Highlights

Something had to give…two undefeated teams vying for the spot atop of district 11! It made for an exciting atmosphere this past Friday night at Ravenwood High, it felt more like a playoff game in mid November than a regular season game in October. Both teams knew what was at stake, not only a lead for the district title, but also bragging right for another year. Ravenwoods high power defense proved to be exactly what we thought it would be holding Centennial scoreless through out the entire game and that’s no easy feat. Until last week Centennial had outscored their opponents 227 to 81. Both Ravenwood and Centennial have a star studded ast on the offensive side of the ball with Deon Sanders,Tyrell Dotson and Emanuel Hall for Centennial and Seth Rowland, Cole Brown, and Van Jefferson for Ravenwood. We feel that both of these teams will make their presence felt in the playoffs this year. Each team can take something away from this game to carry into the playoffs. After the game you would have expected to see a bunch of Centennial players with their head hung low, but instead what we saw was a look in their eyes of the realization that Ravenwood had exposed their weekness and they where immediately ready to fix their mistakes. For Ravenwood, they are off to their best start in school history and looking like the 2005 team that won it all. Us here at D1Highlights being close to players and coaches on both teams wish them all the very best going forward. See you in the post season! #d1highlights
