Football season is right around the corner and we couldn’t be any more excited then what’s about to transpire this fall. We had an opportunity to check in on the 931 yep you may know it as Clarksville TN. Our good friends at Friday Night Blitz in Clarksville helped us locate some of the top players that are on course to make some noise this fall. Here are our D1 highlights players to watch for up there in Montgomery County. We would love to name off more players if we could however these are the ones that are on the map. In no particular order let’s go!

  • This 2018 hard-hitting ballhawk defensive back and slot from Clarksville High School Bobby Jackson (@BankrollBob08who holds an offer currently Austin Peay and Murray State is explosive on both sides of

    Bobby Jackson

    the ball.

  • 2019 quarterback Bryce Robinson (@BryceRobinsonqbfrom Clarksville Academy looks to build on another strong season. Bryce has had a great offseason, he looks like he’s added a little weight to his frame. Robinson who has started since his freshman year midway through the season has great decision making and pinpoint passing.

  • This 2018 former UT commit de-committed last month to see his other options. Shatar McClay (@mcclay_shatarfrom Northwest High School who is still sitting on offers from Indiana, Purdue ,and Kentucky is a playmaker on both sides of the ball. Watching his film was like me playing with a game system joystick. Whatever school gets this young man will surely be getting a special talent. Definitely someone we can see potentially holding the Mr.Football trophy later this year.
  • Fred Orr (@frederickorr02is a 2019 running back from Rossview High School with quickness and the big-play capability of taking it to the house on any given play. Orr who averaged over six yards per carry last season racked up a total of 900+ yards on the ground looks to have another breakout season.
  •  Northwest High School signal caller quarterback Hunter Silverstrim (@silverstrimhwho is smart as a whip with a 4.0 GPA and 35 on his ACT looks and to lead his Vikings to the promised land this season. Silverstrim threw for a little over 1,100 yards and rushed for over 300 yards in his junior campaign. With his toy McClay in the receiving arsenal Silverstrim should put up even more impressive numbers this season.

  • This 2018 slot and defensive back from Northeast High School has just received an offer from East Tennessee State University last month is Gus Antoine(@GusAwesome11)

    Gus Antoine

Antoine may possibly be one of the fastest players out of the 931. Gus is a force to be reckoned with in all three phases of the game, anytime the ball is in his hand it could be dangerous for opposing teams.

  • Another Clarksville Northeast High School standout and teammate of Gus Antoine is Quinton Cross (@Qcross12who also holds an offer from East Tennessee State University. Cross lead Northeast at the quarterback position last year but from what we’re hearing will be transitioning to a slot position this upcoming season. He will have no problem in his new role as he is an offensive weapon that could take it the distance with the ball in his hand.
  • We had an opportunity to check out this 2018 running back and linebacker out of Rossview High School by the name of Jakob Harris (@Jakobbbyyy). Harris who is definitely built Ford tough has a clip of him earlier this spring squatting a massive 535 lb. Jacob is not only a defensive run-stopper who can also carry the rock for some tough yards. If you try to bring him down you better make sure you got your big boy pants on cuz he’s not coming down easy.
  • After a disappointing 0-10 season last year West Creek High School 2019 defensive tackle Elijah Grant (@_elijahgrant_) was one of the bright spots on the defensive line. Grant has the size that a lot have but the explosion and speed that few posses. Going into his junior campaign Grant has the physical makeup and abilities to potentially be one of the top defensive linemen in the 931 by his senior year. He’s sure to see a lot of double teams this upcoming season as teams will have to game plan around him where he’s at on the line. Very disruptive!
  • Another big and we mean BIG defensive tackle out of the 931 it’s coming courtesy of Kenwood High School 2019 Demarrio Borum (@marrioup_next51). Borum will overpower most opponents this upcoming season and will require a lot of double teams if teams hope to contain. This diaper Dandy will definitely be a foundation of Kenwood’s new-look defense.
  • Staying at Kenwood High School this 2018 defensive back and running back Aquantis Sanders (@_ASaunders6will be key on both sides of the ball this season. Sanders who will be replacing one of the state’s best running backs in Antwuan Branch is up next for a standout senior campaign. Saunders brings athleticism and leadership if you want from an upperclassman. The new head coach is bringing a new defensive scheme that will surely flourish for Sanders allowing him to play up on the line and use his talents to stop opposing offenses.
  • Clarksville High School 2018 stand out Malik Santiago (@MalikSantiago2o) just received his first offer from Birmingham-Southern. Santiago who plays the slot and defensive back is equally dangerous in the kickoff return game. Santiago will be key on both sides of the ball for Clarksville High this fall and must have big games for the Wildcats to be successful. The kid is very explosive and has a nose for the pylon.
  • Well since we’re talking about the watch list here is a young man you’ll definitely want to know by the name of Josh Watch (@WatchJoshua2) This 2019 running back and defensive back was one of Clarksville High School brightest stars last season and is expected to the same again this year. His special teams play is definitely special! He’s exciting and fun player to watch especially when the ball is thrown up in the air when he’s on defense as he usually wins those one-on-one battles. If he wins that one-on-one battle look out he may mess around and create a pick 6.
  • Going back to Clarksville Northeast this 2019 quarterback who now assumes the starting nod for the Eagles offense is Heath Williams (@_HeathWilliams9). Had an opportunity to see him earlier this spring at one of the camps here in the Middle Tennessee area. He was definitely a standout on this particular day. Williams will step into the role as a leader of the Eagles offense, with one of the strongest arms in the city and plenty of targets to throw to Williams could have a big year through the air for the Eagles.
  • Back to West Creek High School this 2018 defensive end and tight end Jaquan Saunders (@jaquansaunders_) brings havoc off the edge to any opposing quarterback. His quickness and technique gives him the advantage of most matchups coming off the ball and around the corner. This will be an important senior season for him as he looks to solidify his side of the defensive ball.
  • After a disappointing season last year this 2018 quarterback out of Montgomery Central High School by the name of Madison Murphy  looks to rebound this year for the Indians. His quickness and speed is like having an extra tail back in the game. With another year under his belt at the qb position Murphy may prove to be one of the most important pieces of the puzzle in leading the team and more importantly his offense.
  • Another Clarksville Academy standout is 2018 halfback and defensive back Jason Longwell. Longwell is expected to be key on both sides of the ball this upcoming season. His big-play ability makes him a game-changer on any given Friday night. This season’s is shaping up to be a big season with him and his quarterback Bryce Robinson throwing the ball to him.
  • Last and definitely not least on our list is 2018 quarterback from Rossview High School Isaiah Phillips (@Isaiah3Phillips) Phillips is expected to handle the full-time quarterback duties for the Hawks this fall. Along with Orr Rossview ground-attack will have several looks and options. Philips will be one of the Hawks leaders they will need to depend on weekend and week out especially with the jump up into the 6A bracket.
Montgomery County is definitely on the map this upcoming season. Can’t wait until this fall to make that drive up I-24 to see some of these young men play. We are in talks with a local radio station about doing a radio show for one or two weeks for some big games.
We want to send a special shout-out and thank you to our partners at Friday Night Blitz with the assistance of sharing the great talent in Clarksville.
