Football is back! We here at the D1Highlights overly excited about the return of football. The crazy 2020 pandemic delayed high school and college football alike, not only delay but in certain areas cancel the season for many seniors across the country. As we move into 2021 mini camp, training camp, and two days have now kicked off within the past few weeks.

Tennessee State University ushers in the Eddie George era, the Tennessee Titans who are just two years removed from the AFC championship bring in future Hall of Famer Julio Jones to help put the two-tone blue over the top. Vanderbilt Commodores kick off the season with new and former Notre Dame defensive coordinator Clark Lea. Just down Interstate 40 East to Knoxville on Rocky Top we welcome another new head coach in Josh Heupel. He will be bringing in his spread air raid offense in hopes of boosting a talented offensive group that have the pieces to be competitive.

We could all use a little Friday night lights, Saturday afternoon and Sunday football to entertain us as we go into the fall. Looking forward to seeing what storylines will be written over the course of the next few months. Who will we be discussing as candidates for Mr. Football in the state of Tennessee? How did first year coaches at Tennessee State, Vanderbilt, and University of Tennessee fair? How far will our Titans go?
