Hendersonville quietly gets to 5-0!

hendersonvilleFor a team that made it to the 6A State title game in Cookeville last year there hasn’t been a whole lot of buzz surrounding their 5-0 start to the 2014 season. Humble is the word that we will use to describe the Hendersonville Commandos team. While the focus of the mid-state has been on 5-0 Blackman and 4-1 Oakland, Hendersonville has gladly taken a backseat  but while doing so they are sitting comfortably at 5-0 with a nice lead in district 9 AAA. So far this season the Commandos have knocked off Wilson Central, Hunters Lane, Gallatin, Lebanon and Brentwood. Their schedule will get harder as the year goes on as they get ready to face Riverdale Mt. Juliet and cross town rival Beech. There are plenty of leaders on the team with enough experience to lead the Commandos back to Cookeville, immediately senior quarterback Jeremias Elston comes to mind. Last year Mr. Elston was at the helm of the Commandos offense that scored a school record 534 points (hendersonvillefootball.com). There is a confident yet humble presence to Jeremias that you can feel when you speak to him, that is the way the entire Hendersonville team plays behind coach Bruce Hatfield. Keep an eye on the Commandos for them to make another run into the 6A playoffs this season. This could easily be their year to win it all.
