We had a great outing last Saturday attending the J3M 7V7 tryouts put on by Shawn Banks in Murfreesboro at 615 Training.

Banks had a Who’s Who of former alumni who were attending the camp spectating like Josh Malone, who now plays for the Cincinnati Bengals and recently had his #3 jersey at Station Camp in Hendersonville retired. Alontae Taylor from Coffee County who is a true freshman at the University of Tennessee was also on hand observing.

There was a lot of talent on hand and several young men stuck out to us, however, these particular young men are names that you may want to start paying a little attention to over the course of 2019.

1. David DeRocher, MBA, Quarterback, 2021, 6’3, 190lbs, Pro-Style David DeRocher

David was very impressive throwing the ball with lots of zip and velocity. As a 2021 kid he still has lots of growth physically, but already has a great frame and arm that will only get better throughout the year and years to come.

2. Demick Starling, East Nashville, Wide Receiver, 2020, 6’1, 165lbsDemick Starling

Demick has great hands, we often see receivers using the body to catch incoming balls however he used his hands and as we could tell has a very strong grip. Route running was very good and looking the ball all the way in to complete the pass and catch was exceptional. This fall may be a really big breakout season for him due to not only receiving but also his special teams talent of kickoff and punt returns explosiveness.

3. Willie Wilson, East Nashville, Athlete, 2022, 5’5, 125lbsWillie Wilson

Remember this name Willie Wilson, he will be a metro Nashville phenomenon in just a few years. He reminded us a bit like former Pearl Cohn stand out Jay Parker. Wilson can do it all, offensively as a running back and defensively could be a shutdown corner. Not getting too ahead of ourselves as he is only a 2022 kid, but what we’ve seen from him last Saturday has us thinking he may be something special to watch the next few years.
