KNOXVILLE – Butch Jones has proven a couple of things early in his UT tenure.

He has no problem wrapping up early commitments and he’s determined to secure the top talent from the state of Tennessee. Both of those trends continued Thursday night with the commitment of 2015 offensive tackle Jack Jones, who declared his pledge to UT via Twitter.

Jack Jones, a native of Murfreesboro, Tenn., has long favored Tennessee in his recruitment and he wasted little time acting after coach Butch Jones offered him a scholarship earlier this week.

At 6-6, 270 pounds, Jack Jones projects as an offensive tackle in college as he continues to grow into his frame in high school. He was named the offensive MVP at the In Full Motion Tennessee Exposure Camp held at Tennessee State University last weekend.

His performance at the camp spurred UT, Georgia Tech and MTSU to offer.

“[Jones] won Offensive MVP by consistently keeping defensive lineman in front of him by displaying brilliant footwork and excellent lateral movement in 1-on-1 drills,” Rivals.com wrote in a scouting report of the event.

As is true with most 2015 prospects at this point in the recruiting process, Jack Jones hasn’t been rated by the major recruiting sites.

Offensive line is expected to be a huge priority in the 2014 and 2015 classes with the Vols scheduled to return as few as eight scholarship offensive linemen following the 2013 campaign. The Vols have two offensive linemen – Orlando Brown and Coleman Thomas – committed to the 2014 signing class and now have two for 2015 with Jones and Zach Stewart now in the fold.
