The 2019-2020 high school football season has concluded and we are now turning the page to the 2021 class of young athletes.

Shawn Banks and his J3M Training organization hit the ground running on this past Sunday, December 8th. J3M held there 7v7 tryouts at the Gallatin HS in Sumner County, where over 100+ kids showed up and competed for an opportunity to represent the 7v7 team this upcoming summer on the national circuit.  7v7 has continued to explode across the country, specifically in the southeast region of the United States. It has become a Who’s Who of the top athletes going into summer workouts and the upcoming season. It is an opportunity for players to compete against other upper echelon athletes in hopes of sharpening individual skill sets that will propel them into another class of their own.

This past Sunday we saw highly recruited athletes like Andre Turrentine, Isaiah Horton, Jordan James, Elijah Herring, & Damon Owens. Damon was fresh off the football field from the previous night as he competed for a state championship in Cookeville.

One name that stood out and will soon be the hottest thing smoking out of East Tennessee is 2021 dual-threat quarterback/safety from Bradley Central Javin Burke. Standing at 6’1, 200lbs, with a cannon for an arm, mobility to scramble out of the pocket, speed and agility to pick up yards if a play breaks down makes him elite level. This past season alone Burke threw for over 2100 yards while rushing for over 600 yards. His 22 touchdowns, 10 passing made him a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses. It had been rumored as of Tuesday morning that he had caught the attention of the University of Tennessee coaching staff and a potential offer was going to be on the table for him. He (Burke) has a strong desire to play quarterback at the next level, has all the tools needed to be special after high school playing days are over at the QB position. However, with him being the elite athlete that he is he can also compete as a top-tier safety. A position that he is perfectly fine with executing and playing.
